Alessandro Costa Costa holds a PhD in Environmental Science. In 1999-2004, he was researcher at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei; in 2004-10, he served at the intergovernmental Sino-Italian Cooperation Programme (SICP) for Environmental Protection in Beijing. In 2010-11 he co-directed the Europe-China Clean Energy Centre; in 2011-2015 he designed, started-up, and directed the Enel Foundation. Since October 2013, he is a member of the World Energy Council’s Studies Committee.

After an overview of future energy scenarios according to the outlook put forward by the World Energy Council, I will deepen the most relevant issues that currently determine development perspectives for the energy industry, with a close look to the challenges that the energy market are starting to tackle.
